The Feldenkrais Method – Two Ways of Learning

Awareness Through Movement® (ATM™)

In Awareness Through Movement classes, people engage in precisely-structured movement explorations that involve thinking, sensing, moving and imagining. Each lesson consists of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity.

ATM lessons increase awareness of habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities, and expand options for choosing new ways of moving. There are hundreds of Awareness Through Movement lessons in the Feldenkrais Method. They are suitable for all levels of movement ability, from simple in structure and physical demand to very complex and challenging.

Functional Integration® (FI™) Lessons

Functional Integration is another aspect the Feldenkrais Method. Practitioners guide people through movement patterns with gentle, non-invasive touch and words. These are private lessons that address specific concerns of a student.

If you are interested in an intense personal study or in becoming a teacher, here is the website of the fine teachers I trained with – Paul Rubin and Julie Casson Rubin.

My home and practice is, in Thunder Bay, in the Robinson-Superior Treaty territory and this land is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg and Métis people.
